This is a gray shielded stranded cable. The individual conductors are 24AWG (American wire gauge) stranded pure copper for improved flexibility. Pure copper conductors provide the best signal possible. Our Cat5e Ethernet cable exceeds the ANSI/TIA-568.2-D standard.

Stranded so the rj-45's can go right on.

I'm not using this wire for digital transmission, but for an analog microphone signal, and it works fine in that application. A couple hundred feet of this cable is used in an auditorium to carry the signals of permanently installed stereo microphone. Since it has 8 conductors it can be wired in a star-quad configuration carrying a 2 channel signal (2 conductors for each of the 2 sides of a balanced line, times 2 channels). In this configuration it very low noise, and I have not measured any high-frequency degradation due to increased capacitance. Using star-quad cable near theatre light is almost required due to all the RF noise. It could also be used to carry 4 channels in the more common wiring of using one conductor for each side of a balanced line. This configuration would work fine, but for shorter cable runs, maybe up to 100 feet, or in locations with less RF. (Those low RF locations are getting harder to find anymore.) Even though this is stranded cable, I would only use this in permanent installations; I just don't think it would hold up to repeated coiling and uncoiling, and it does not lay flat. However, I would not hesitate to use this to wire a recording studio or a bar, for instance. This stranded, shielded Cat5 wire is very difficult to find, and the price here is fantastic. Star-quad microphone cable is easily 10 times more expensive than this Cat 5 cable, and this stuff works just as well for permanent installations. Well done.

You have the lowest prices around. This cable (stranded) is hard to find!! Highly recommend!
