The surprise hit of this year's CES was Qi wireless charging (Pronounced "Chee") and this new technology is now available at CableWholesale. What is Qi you say? Qi is a charging interface standard developed by the Wireless Power Consortium for inductive electrical power transfer over distances of up to 1.6 inches. The Qi system comprises a power transmission pad and a compatible receiver in a portable device. To use the system, the mobile device is placed on top of the power transmission pad, which charges it via electromagnetic induction. Imagine walking in the door, putting your phone down on the table. It lights up and starts charging wirelessly. Pick it up to use it, and put it down again to continue charging. There are no cables, no connectors and no fuss. It's that convenient! Nokia, LG, HTC, Motorola and Samsung have already put Qi standard wireless power receivers into recent phones as well as Bluetooth headsets. CableWholesale currently offers receivers for the iPhone 4/4s and the Samsung Galaxy S3. The idea behind Qi is simple: all CableWholesale Qi devices will work with all Qi chargers and vise versa. That's it, just look for the Qi logo. Be sure and check out our Qi technical article for in depth information on how it works and its potential.
